After nearly five years, this week we have seen six ducks in a family we hope will stay with us for a while. One of our neighbors used to feed a whole community of ducks prior to Hurricane IKE, but the storm decimated our ducks, our turtles and our nutria. We are cheering for the ducks and the turtles - not so much, the nutria even though they did clean up the weeds in the bayous.
Your mission, if you want to take it on: identify the type of duck. I have my bird book out and think they could be Mexican, Black or Mottled ducks - unless they are all female mallards...
